The Humana Children's Haven provides orphaned and abandoned children age between 1 and 18 years a healthy, caring environment. HUMANA  started in 2008 with the aim of supporting all orphaned and HIV/AIDS children of African nationals including African foreign nationals living in South Africa. Since 2009 when I assumed the post of Executive Director/Coordinator, taking over from Mrs. Rozanne Hoffman who serves now as the Board Chairperson, I have been at the helm of Humana, ensuring we grow responsibly and remain accountable to our stakeholders. With a Senior Teacher’s Diploma from Algoa College, I was a science teacher for 8 years at Emfundweni Primary School Prior to joining Humana. I was born and brought up in the townships, and have been a community leader my entire life; serving as a global ambassador for the organization. I live and breathe community development. I also have years of nonprofit experience, working in Sri Lanka during the tsunami and participating in the Three Peaks Challenge. Ever since then, I have been working hard to close the gap that exists between parented children and children that has suffered physical, sexual or emotional abuse, severe neglect or abandonment. Majority are Aids orphans and/or are HIV positive.
